Woodshed Music was founded from a lifelong devotion to music, education, and the belief that great teaching can change lives. Based in Ferryhill, United Kingdom, the studio reflects decades of musical experience and a deep respect for the craft of learning. What began with a single guitar and a quiet ambition has grown into a trusted and respected music education studio, dedicated to nurturing talent at every stage.

At the heart of Woodshed Music is its founder and head teacher, Martin. With over a lifetime immersed in music, Martin brings not only technical mastery but genuine insight, patience, and passion to every lesson. Now 57, he balances professionalism with approachability, creating an environment where students feel supported, motivated, and inspired to achieve their best.

Martin is a devoted family man, sharing over 40 years with his wife Annemarie. Together they have raised three children—Michael, Connor, and Dannielle—and are proud grandparents to four granddaughters. This strong family foundation is reflected in the studio’s welcoming and respectful atmosphere, where students of all ages feel valued and encouraged.

Although now retired from regular performing, Martin spent many years on stage, most notably with his band Dirty Love, performing alongside his son Michael and a range of talented musicians including Liam, Jason, Jordan, Harley and Bethan. This real-world performance experience informs his teaching, offering students a depth of musical understanding that goes far beyond the exam syllabus.

Woodshed Music offers high-quality tuition in guitar, piano, bass, drums, and vocals, with each lesson carefully tailored to the individual. Martin is known for his friendly yet focused teaching style, consistently delivering exceptional results—guiding students to the highest levels, including Grade 8 across multiple instruments.

Beyond the studio, Martin enjoys time with his dogs and the freedom of riding his motorbikes—interests that reflect his grounded, authentic approach to life and teaching.
